Cool Computer Design

January 18th, 2006

Wow! a computer case made as a bookshelf!

-and-

The Bookshelf is a personal computer that physically resembles a bookshelf and functions like a bookshelf as books and magazines – or in this case, hardware – are placed on it. The foundation of the computer is its central processing unit, which is a 7-inch cube. The Bookshelf operates with add-on hard drive attachments that are supplied by digital service providers.

Having recently gone cold turkey on Diet coke (from 2-2½ L. pr day to none…). I bring this with design story with mixed emotions. Coca cola might put addictive stuff in their Diet coke but Club Coca Cola are letting top designers make interesting designs for their product packeting: the everlasting curved bottle.

The functionality of the contoured, limited edition CLUB Coca-Cola bottles has been taken to the outer edges of global design by a team of five of the world’s best design agencies, tagged the M5 (Magnificent 5) by the soft drink brand. The M5 consists of the Designers Republic (Europe); MK12 (North America); Lobo (South America); Caviar (Asia) and Rex & Tennant McKay (Africa).

They are however made of aluminium and have cool print on them:

Kind of strange they look so similar…

A girl Retouched step by step

@ fb.se

They have a nice littel flash thingy showing some steps in making a cover for a girl magazine.

It is kind of mindboggeling to see the extreme difference that some photoshopping does.

The Opus V time piece

January 7th, 2006

The Opus V is a remarkeble time piece from Harry Winston.

There is just one thing I don’t understand about it: Why did he design
is so that the numbers on the interface occur in the wrong sequence? I wound read the above picture: “The time is 32:8″ rather than “its 8:32″? But apart from that – that is one hefty piece of design!
